Smart cards known too as chip card, or integrated circuit cards (ICC), are any pocket-sized card with embedded integrated circuits on it that process data. The card receives input data and sent back output data. Cards are made of plastic, and are used mostly in large companies and organizations supplying very high level security authentication for single sign-on
There are two main categories for such cards: the first one is Memory only cards that contain in it non-volatile memory storage components, and sometime some specific security logic. The second type of cards is based on Microprocessor which contain both a microprocessor and volatile memory components.
