The VSCOM IP-COM-M is a Network attached RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 adapter delivering serial port by a network RJ-45 connection.
Serial ports on USB allow further use of existing devices, even when modern computers don't offer serial ports. This proven technology is only limited by the length of USB cabling. The IP-COMi-M solves this problem by using CAT5 cable or your local network to allow for long distance from computer to the serial adapter.
The Network Attached RS-232/RS422/RS485 Adapter supports multiple users and multiple tasks operation over the same network. By plugging the network-attached serial adapter to a network of multiple users, all users in the same network can access the high speed RS-232/RS422/RS485 serial port. To add more serial ports to the network, user can add as many units of IP-COMi-M as he needs. The device can be installed 100 meters away from the host. To further extend communication distance, the adapter supports extend mode by adding a switching hub between the host computer and an IP-COMi-M adapter to extend another 100 meters. Extra switching hubs can be added in between to increase the distance further when needed. Network Attached RS-232/RS422/RS485 Adapter is an ideal solution for the users who need to simply add to network multi-electrical serial ports but do not need to use the complex and complicated settings and functions offered by high price device servers in the market.
The high speed serial port with the 128 byte FIFO allow high speed communication, even in heavy loaded systems. Unique features reduce the system load. The serial port also allows unusual speed settings like 500.000bps.
